Accommodation Rates:

Sleeping accommodation consists of 4 very private, large en-suite bedrooms, which because of our “zip up” bed option can provide 8 single, or 4 king size beds

These prices are negotiable to enable us to make provision for different size golfing groups, and bookings for groups using the outstanding St Francis Links Clubhouse conference and wedding facilities.

Other Services Available

Your hosts, Clive and Carol Horlock, are also willing to provide the additional services:
Provide “assisted” self-catering. That is, stock the house with food/meals for guests.
Arrange meal vouchers for the Links Clubhouse
Arrange golf bookings or coordinate tours to other golf courses or game reserves.
Arrange car hire for overseas visitors??

Transport Facilities

Public Transport in the area is limited to buses. There are bus services that run from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, with the nearest stopping point at Humansdorp, 15 minutes away. Collection of guests can be arranged for an additional fee.
The low traffic volumes and easy driving makes vehicle hire the most viable option. “Vehicle Hire” is available in St Francis, and at the Port Elizabeth Airport approximately 80 minutes drive from St Francis.

Clubhouse

Meals – In addition to the “halfway house”, the Links offers breakfasts, lunches, and has a top class restaurant.
Bar – Drinks can be enjoyed in “Jacks” Bar or on the spacious deck overlooking St Francis Bay
Dress Code – generally casual (with shoes) and to fit the occasion
Health Spa – This facility is on offer to both members and guests subject to prior booking

Security Procedure

Guests will be supplied with a key to The Golf House on Sea and a security access card.

This card can be used to:
gain access through either of the entrances into the Links Estate
enter into the exclusive residential areas, and
gain pedestrian access onto the Sand River Sanctuary

Other:

Guests may also ride, walk or run on the estates roads (paved areas)
A walk on the unique Sand River adjacent to the course is also very worthwhile
The St Francis Links also owns a tennis court in the village. Bookings can be made for the use thereof.

Beaches

St Francis is blessed with a number of beautiful beaches. Your choice of beach may be influenced by the prevailing weather conditions.

Main Beach - Bathing beach in St Francis Bay. Pleasant for long walks to river mouth at low tide. Protected from SW winds.
Kromme Estuary- Suitable for fishing in river, kite surfing and sun bathing
Cape St Francis – Beautiful expansive beach. Suitable for swimming, surfing, sun bathing and walks. Protected from SW winds.
Wild Side – Small coves protected from NE winds.

St Francis Bay has a commercial center with a range of shops supplying most basic necessities including food/alcoholic beverages (incl best SA wines)/fuel/post office/internet facilities/art & interest/beauty/video hire/hairdressers/fishing and beach gear/pharmacy/butchery/fresh fish plus more.

Emergency Services

A list of emergency numbers is available at the house, which includes doctors, dentist and hospital which is fifteen minutes away

Golf

St Francis Bay Golf Club. Also a beautiful golf course situated in the middle of St Francis village. Fees are in the region of R160 per round and caddies are available.

At Cape St Francis. This attraction also offers a restaurant and penguin rehabilitation center.

Jeffrey;s Bay

Besides being a world class surfing venue, Jefferies Bay provides a number of factory shops, selling brand name(Billabong, Lizard, Lizzie, Roxy ) surf wear. The new Fountains Shopping Mall provides for “one stop” shopping.

The Chameleon

Gift and Coffee Shop in Humansdorp (17 km away - on the Road out to Jefferies Bay) (15 minutes drive), is very popular, and is often a destination for people looking for excellent cuisine and something out of the ordinary at reasonable prices.

Game Reserves

St Francis is less than 3 hrs drive away from a number of Game Reserves, including Addo Elephant Park and Shamwari. These two are “malaria free”, “big five” reserves, with Shamwari a regular winner of international awards.

Nature and Wilderness Areas

There are many such areas within easy reach of St Francis, the nearest being Baviaans Kloof, which is a mountainous reserve of pristine beauty, much frequented by 4 x 4 enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Garden Route

St Francis is within easy driving distance of a number of popular garden route attractions, which include the Titsikamma Forests / Knysna / Plettenburg Bay / Natures Valley and Storms River, which has one of the highest bungee jumps in the world.
